给我点惊喜吧！ Give me some surprise!
除了一些特殊例子之外，我想多数的人都喜欢生活中出现一些惊喜吧。。。要不然形式化和固定的生活方式难免偶尔会显得枯燥无味，所以惊喜可以给人生增添一些色彩和回忆；当然也不要太刺激，免得给心脏不太好的人搞不好反而乐极生悲。。。
我想我是属于比较爱搞创意和给人惊喜的那一类吧，但由于忙碌和时间的关系，我也渐渐的怠惰了。。。
才差不多一个星期前，我们几个朋友就给了怜悯之母，又称骆驼小姐，又称慈祥妈妈，真名郑秋霖小姐一个生日惊喜。。。（请注意下一篇关于秋霖的生日惊喜）
也是上个月，我飞到新加坡给祖他的生日惊喜，虽然祖反应没照剧本跑，我知道他确实是很高兴看到我。。。当然啦，谁见到我会不高兴呢？
去年在我家也为一个年轻人办生日会，把他妈妈藏在我家厕所里（那个有点像酒吧的厕所）。。。本以为只有年轻朋友出席的生日会，突然看到妈妈从厕所走出来确实是有点惊喜。。。
以前在纽西兰求学时，也曾经帮好友庆祝，也安排另一好友从威灵顿秘密飞下来基督城，把他藏在房间里，然后生日歌唱起时他也突然间出现。。。
你一定是在想，有我这样的朋友真是今生无悔，没有白活，我也这样认为。。。
但偏偏朋友当中就我比较创意或“有心”去构思。。。轮到我自己时，就好像没什么精彩的惊喜回忆了！
比较靠近的应该是两年前，当教会为我办的生日“大庆祝”已过，而在真正生日当天已没预料还有什么，而且那晚在教会也有聚会，所以散会后回到家就准备休息。。。
就要熄灯时，突看到一辆车驾上我住的地方的大门跑道停下来。。。原来是田圣！
我很惊讶，开了门给他进来，问他有什么事三更半夜跑来。。。
他静静的一句话都不说，也没什么理我，只在客厅徘徊走来走去。。。真的是很奇怪的一个人！
然后他好像说什么其他人呢？我越听越莫名其妙，才开始怀疑外面还有人。。。果然突然间门口也出现其他人，原来他们都停在不远处，计划是要等大家来齐了才一起进来给我惊喜。。。哪知那田圣还以为大家那么好，留了一个那么好的位子给他停车。。。难得我生平就要有的一个惊喜就这样给田圣破坏掉了
但说实在的，要给我惊喜还真是难呢，因为聚千万恩宠于一身的我，生日啦、什么的，都会有人想帮我庆祝的，所以要怎样给我惊喜呢，除非我装出来？或者就像上个礼拜田圣说的（又是他），他说最大的惊喜就是什么都不要为牧师做，不要庆祝。。。那将是最大的惊喜！唉！
话虽然是这样说，但有谁不喜欢惊喜呢？所以拜托，拜托，我的生日就到了，就请你们动用一点创意吧，给我一点惊喜吧，我正迫切期待！哈哈。。。
Apart from some unique exceptions, I think most people would like to have some pleasant surprises in life… Otherwise the normal routine and monotonous lifestyle can occsionally become rather dry and boring, so surprises can really add on colours and memories in a person’s life; but of course don’t overdo it too for it might spell disaster for those who have weak heart…
I think I belong to the sort who like to be creative and organise surprises for people, but I have slacked a lot in this due to my busy schedule and time…
Just about a week or so ago, a few of us gave Mother Mercy, a.k.a. Miss Camel, a.k.a. Kind Mummy, a.k.a. Miss Tay Chiew Ling a birthday surprise… (watch out for my next article on CL’s birthday surprise)
Also just last month, I flew to Singapore to give Jaydon his birthday surprise. Though Jaydon’s reaction was not in accordance to the script, I know he was actually very happy to see me… Of course, who wouldn’t be happy to see me?
Last year I also threw a birthday party for a young man at my place, we hid the mother in my toilet ( my toilet that looks like a bar )… Thinking only his young friends would be at the party, he was indeed surprised to see his mum coming out from the toilet…
When I was studying in New Zealand, I celebrated for my good friend too, and invited another good friend to secretly fly down from Wellington to Christchurch and hid him in the room, and he also suddenly appeared when we started singing the birthday song…
You must be thinking life is really worthwhile living without much regret to have a friend like me, I thought so too…
But alas, among friends I’m always the one who seems more “creative” and who will make more effort to think and plan… when it comes to my own turn, I must say I don’t have many surprises in my memory…
The closest one must be two years ago, after the church did a big celebration for me, I was not expecting anything anymore on the actual day, and also that night we had a meeting in church, so after the meeting I went home and was preparing for bed…
Just as I was about to switch off the light, I suddenly saw a car stopping outside the house driveway… It was Daniel!
I was very surprised, opened the door and let him in and asked whether anything was amiss for him to come in the middle of the night…
He was quiet and did not answer me, in fact he did not really bother about me, he just went to the lounge and walked to and fro… He was acting very strangely!
Then I think he asked something like “where are the others?”… I was even more puzzled and began to become suspicious that there might be others outside… Sure enough, suddenly others appeared at the door too, actually they were all parked somewhere not too far away, their plan was to wait for all to come and then to come in together to give me a surprise… But Daniel thought everyone was so kind to leave him such a nice space to park his car… So the very rare surprise in my life that was to be was completely spoilt by Daniel just like that!
But honestly, it is indeed very hard to give me surprises, because I am always much-loved, much-cared for and much-noticed, so when my birthday or whatever function comes, there will always be many who would want to celebrate for me, so how can I be surprised unless I pretend to be? Or unless like what Daniel said last week ( yes, Daniel again ), he said the biggest surprise will be not to do anything for Pastor, don’t celebrate or organise anything… that will be the biggest surprise! Sigh!
Well-said though it might be, who does not like surprises? So, oh please, please, my birthday is just round the corner, please be a bit more creative and give me some surprise, I’m eagerly waiting! Haha…
I think “no surprise” will be the “biggest surprise”! ^^’

Surprise this year yr birthday celebration is only for leaders,n helpers.so i called the leader.How come my beloved daddy birthday we cant go .Many would like to celebrate for our spiritual daddy. Seeing everybody so hardworking n united with one heart to make our fundraising so successful.u know what people said. They never see such a big crowd so loving.joyful smiling n enjoying themselves.I reply we are the BLESSED CHILDREN. From PASTOR LIM. So hallelujah.praise God ,we are all going to yr birthday party. Because I donn’t want any big celebration this year, I know how hard and pressuring it is to organise something very grand like the previous years’, and especially when everybody is so exhausted after the Marriage Vow Renewal Ceremony, the Food Fair and Christmas coming up, I certainly don’t want to tire them some more… as all the previous celebrations were very grand and took the organisers and participants weeks to prepare. Actually, they wanted to do it still this time ‘cos they love and honour God’s servant but I asked them not to, even the dinner for leaders was a last minute consent…. Well, to celebrate with the pastor does not have to be a dinner or party, be the “best” sheep, obedient to the Lord always and be of one heart will be the best present ever for me…
Last two sentences sound like what my mother always said…

There is this thing called Google…but honestly, I wasn’t really searching you. The story is ….
Last year I was trying to see what is my Google popularity index – key in my name and see how many links come back related to me. So I searched for all the combinations of my names. To my dismay, there were not too many of my names in the internet, but one return link caught my eyes. You mentioned me in your old blog !
I therefore found you last year. I did not contact you immediately because I was thinking of showing up in Kuching one day to spring you a surprise. (Well I may still do that…pray harder !)
As for myself, well after Chch, I went to Singapore to work for 1.5 years. Went back to Ipoh to get married and then settled down in Penang. Lived there for 15 years until this year July. Right now back to Singapore.
