。。 Unique guests…

That day, I invited two unique guests to my house for dinner…
Actually I have noticed them coming to our church for quite a while, so I thought of getting to know them more, and also to let them feel the “warmth” of Kuching people…

When they arrived, I was astonished because they were all suit and tie while I was in shorts and T-shirt… feeling embarrassed, I quickly ran upstairs to change…
They explained that in their home country, it is very difficult to have such close contact with pastors, so when they heard they were coming to pastor’s house to eat, they must put on their best clothes… Wow, talk about honouring the servant of God!

They are from Nigeria, studying in Kuching. On the left, Memory and right, John…
They are even more polite than us, Chinese. I realised they were standing all the time because I had not sat down, so they did not sit down too! Where as my other “Kuching” guests were already well-seated getting ready to eat…
Then before I started to eat, they would not even touch their spoon, they were really waiting for me to start first; so unlike our young people who would say “Pastor, eat!”, but before I even move a finger, they would have already eaten a few mouthfuls…

While talking and sharing with them that day, we learnt many lessons and saw our own prejudice of always thinking that Africans are all very poor and lacking in food…
They were wearing branded suits ordered via internet and sent in from the USA which cost more than a thousand Ringgit!
Don’t we, Sarawakians hate people saying we still live on trees? Memory and John said they also experienced similar despise and prejudices about Africa from people here, may God have mercy!
I hope to visit their homeland one day, what about you?

  • XIE

Pastor Lim, if you visit their homeland, you will be treated like a king because they greatly honour pastors. To honour a pastor is to honour God. I quote from John Bevere “He who honours you honours Me, and he who honours Me honuors Him who sent Me. He who honours a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who honours a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whoever honours one of these little ones with only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”

After reading this blog, I must apologize that the last time I went to your house, I went only in jeans and T-shirt…haha. But Spore culture same as Kuching la…
But I love their heart and their honor of God and His servants. We have much to learn.
    Thanks for sharing.

    • Alison

Ps Billy, don’t worry….I went there also in jeans and T-shirt (send the food requested by Pastor). It was really grand, CL and some other brothers and sisters from church were all dressed up for the occasion as well. I had to run off for my house group meeting so didn’t really have a chance to talk to Memory and John. Well, the next time you come to Kuching, you can ask Pastor to invite you to his house for dinner…hahaha…then you also have a chance to dress up in suit and tie.

So now, I cannot complaint that the church is very Mandarin.

Hahaha… well-said… but I notice sometimes you come for the Mandarin service too…

      • devlin

Listerning is different. Environment wise is different again (you find every corner, people are speaking mandarin). Speaking wise , haha…… hopefully no one complaints. Anyway, trying to adapt.

John and Memory are such admirers of Ps. Lim.
If it was not for the fact that they have to answer our questions as we asked quite a few about them and their countries, i think they would be quite happy just talkg about how they admire Ps. Lim, how they r so touched when they listened to his songs even if they don’t understand, how when he preached they . . . when he . . they . . .
Listening to them, I felt that they were so happy that they could finally tell the Pastor in person, all those things they have stored up in them – their admiration.
After listening to them, I understood why the occasion called for suits and ties.

Our very caring pastor..no matter where u sit he will notice u..he loves n cares all his spiritual children. And Africa is a very nice country to visit too.

  • Memory

It was really awesome getting to know that pastor wanted us to have a dinner with him in his house. He has said it all because if we had more to wear, we would have put on to make him know how honoured we were. I(Memory) and john had the greatest time savouring the special delicacies from the list of different varieties of food we were presented with. The list was endlesss as we had difficulties combining them to make a simple meal as it was really fun doing that. Blessed church of God has really change our perception of true worshipers and malaysian local at large. We love you pastor for your warmth ,receptive hospitality, we love blessed church of God congregation as a whole and this has make us more happy living with happy people in blessed church. Xie Xie Pastor for honouring us.

Wow, thanks, Memory for your kind words! My house is open to you anytime, haha! Must come again…

  • John

WOW…so gorgeous seeing our pics on pastor’s Blog.We are so much amazed been invited for a dinner while having the opportunity of a close interaction to vapor Pastor (GT.Lim) excellent and un-questioned activity in the church. We experienced agape love that Jesus Christ shared among his disciples at pastor’s house, even though it’s beyond our individual expectation and we have to honor and encourage the anointed man of God in order to receive more from God.Xie xie ni for a delicious meal, time and with this little privilege of us,we convey our appreciation to the pastor and Blessed church of God as a whole family.
