你想像的是甚麼? What do you imagine?

Many times, when some people hear that I’m going overseas for mission again, they feel that I’m going for a vacation… some would even criticize that I always go out to have fun…
What about you? What do you imagine?

The truth is, many times if the meetings are not over, I will stay in the hotel and not go out because I need to be well-prepared… Even if the other team members go out to shop or have fun, I very seldom join them as my thoughts and mind will be on the meetings and there is no way I can relax…

Even if I need to go out and eat, I will choose somewhere near, I don’t really mind what to eat, very often I would just ask the others to bring me back whatever takeaway food…

Then, what do I need to prepare in the hotel?
Well, of course I need to pray, read the Bible, practise my songs, think about what to share, etc…
And of course I must not neglect my image too like what to wear… haha!

Ahh… one more thing…
To transform this into that takes a bit of time too… haha!
May we be blessed in our spirit, soul and body, Amen!

But if there is a chance, especially after my ministry, I will take time to stroll around and relax too… because my God is also my dad who loves me a lot~

新加坡,这一次怎么那么特别? Singapore, why is it so special this time?

In early May, I was invited to perform and evangelise by Lighthouse Evangelism Singapore. I have been to Lighthouse many times and of course it was very special and I was blessed each time, but amazingly somehow this time it was even more special! Reason being right after my first day of ministering till at least two weeks after the whole trip had ended, I was receiving continuously messages and mails from many brothers and sisters to encourage and thank me. This has never happened in all the years of me ministering outside…
God’s timing is forever the most accurate because He knew at that time I needed a lot of encouragement, and I needed His strength to serve. What actually happened was upon the second day of ministering at Lighthouse, a spiritual battle broke out against me as well. The enemy tried to disrupt my thoughts and destroy my ministry and stopped my schedule prematurely. The battle continued till only a few days ago when it started to tone down, no wonder during that period of time mails from Singapore kept pouring in daily to encourage and comfort me!
And this is why Singapore is so special this time!

An interesting this time was this time they also invited me to speak in their English Sunday services. A Chinese church pastor who sings Hokkien songs preaching English sermons, isn’t that very special?
Below is the promotional poster they did using the photograph they took of me when I visited their church several years ago, the team that went with me kept laughing and asking me why was it so…???

Looking closely, I found it very funny too myself…

Within a few short years, a person can undergo a lot of changes. This time I came with this image, and when I walked past some people who knew me before, they actually could not recognise me, haha!

I think probably there are really some differences, dressing, hairstyle, body shape etc…?

我真的要感谢灯塔的主任牧师,Pastor Rony Tan,那么款待我。。。
I must really thank Lighthouse Senior Pastor, Pastor Rony Tan for his great hospitality…

Some brothers etc who were assigned to “take care” of me…

Brothers and sisters who patiently waited before the meeting started…

Of course the one who deserves the most thanks is my God who is so willing to use an unworthy vessel like me, may His name receive all the glory forevermore…

溶化我心的笑容。。。 Smiles that melt my heart…

March 19-21, 2011, we went to a little town in Pahang called Triang for evengelistic meetings…
I was told Triang has less than 20,000 people in population, I was the one who told Pastor Chok and Ho (husband and wife) myself that I wanted to go there.
On the way to Triang, my flesh started regretting because we only started our journey from Genting at 11:30 midnight. The journey took about two hours and it was winding and hilly, it gave you the feeling of wanting to throw up all the time.
I seriously suspected the brother who drove us there as an ex-F1 racer, his driving was really more exciting than Genting’s roller-coaster! Even our cool Daniel Tian Sheng sitting at the back suddenly got up to fasten his seat belt quietly…

The climax of the trip this time to Triang was the last day, the 21st, we were invited to share at the secondary school there before going to the airport…
The principal hopes that every student will have a religious belief because we heard that some students are quite rebellious, they are not even afraid when the principal is talking; so we prayed earnestly that God would touch and cause them to quietly listen to the word of God, and be moved by the love of God…
From the photos you can tell that God heard our prayer, the students were well-behaved and polite, they all listened attentively and did not cause trouble at all… let us give the Triang students a round of applause!!
You have given us a very good impression, and we do not mind taking the roller-coaster to come visit you again!

Though there was no air-conditioned system and proper stage and sounds facilities, we still did our best in performing and sharing because no matter in what situation, we must offer up the best to God! The touching part was to see responses from the students…

Just by looking at their smiles, you can feel the warmth and be touched…
Even the teachers seemed to enjoy themselves, and kept taking pictures too!

Towards the end, many responded to the love of God, and they prayed with us seriously to receive Him…
May God remember the people of Triang and all these students that they will all be saved and greatly blessed, Amen!

那也是宣教 - 雅加达 That’s also mission – Jakarta

Normally when we mention “mission”, many Christians would conjure up in their minds villages, remote places, jungles, desert, etc…
But big cities and busy metropolitans do need the Gospel too!
Everyone has different giftings and callings, when I was still a student I used to think I would end up being a missionary in the jungle of Borneo… but it seems till now, God has been leading me to more developed places, like Jakarta which I have just been at the end of February…

My accommodation for the mission was very comfortable… is that allowed?

Looking down from the 22nd Floor where I was staying, a bit hard to believe I was actually in Jakarta because the residential area here seems quite western…

You can just see the vast sea from the window, breath-taking view…

It is very comfortable and serene at home, but actually many places in Indonesia are very congested and dirty, including the streets of Jakarta, not criticizing, just reporting…
Oh, the two sisters at the back are the apartment’s owners, they are also my assistants and translators in Indonesia… the guy in front is Yi Wei, the assistant I brought from Kuching this trip.

There is a wide gap between the rich and the poor in Indonesia… this is a private residence, very extravagant huh? Nothing to do with me, just taking picture…

This type of different style of mission, apart from good living, there was also good eating!

Persecuted by great food and cuisine each day… great temptation!

They said I’m very thin, they wanted me to eat more…

So I obediently ate, ate and ate…

My targeted audience for the mission…

They were very attentive…

I had a very good interpreter, sister Julie Wahab…

The happiest thing is to see people responding to the Lord’s call to trust in Him…

These two boys received the Lord at the meeting too…

这次能来雅加达宣教还要谢谢这对可爱的夫妇的邀请,Adjito 和 Irene…
That I could come to Jakarta for mission this time, I must also thank the lovely couple who invited me, Adjito and Irene…

轻烟车站。。。一首歌的魅力。。。 Misty station… The charm of a song

After releasing 16 albums, from my own observation and experience, what elements will actually cause a song to be charming and attractive?
Of course the most important is the spiritual aspect, i.e. the anointing and the life of a song.
This aspect needs a lot of and very long discussion, but today I just want to talk about the other “technical” elements…
In that case, the simplest reason will be appealing melody plus touching and great lyrics…

Due to a few recent performances, I discovered beautifully choreographed dances accompanying a song can be very touching as well, and can cause people to notice and be attracted by that song!
Before the end of 2010, I was invited to perform in a few Christmas and New Year Countdown concerts. It just so happened slightly before that, a Christian ex-national dance coach from China was convicted by God, and she personally requested to teach our young people some very attractive dances, so we were able to present those dances then!

So we presented “A Mist” and “Station”. Though the dancers were still not very familiar with the dances, and the coach said they were not up to the standard to perform yet, they were met with very good response and received very good comments from the audience. It really made a big impact!
Just by looking at the photos, I believe you can also feel the commitment and seriousness of the dancers, and they truly added to the charm of these two songs…

“A Mist” presents all lady dancers… as if surrounded by angels…

“Station” on the other hand presents only guys, and it was the first time we ever had a “just guys” dance!

Some of their steps did really surprise me!

Amazing lighting also added to the colours of the performances…

Of course to have such an honour to serve God and spread the Gospel, all thanks and glory be unto God alone!

突然增添菲律宾粉丝。。。 Sudden addition of Filipino fans…

I was rehearsing my songs for tomorrow’s fund-raising concert just now, seeing many Filipinos sitting down there, I was thinking as I sang whether they would feel agitated by my singing because of the language and furthermore Filipinos are naturally very good singers, would they find my voice terrible…

Sigh, thinking and thinking… I must not think too much! Better concentrate on my rehearsal and seriously practise every song properly… Praise the Lord, all went well!

When I was about to leave after the rehearsal, this group of Filipinos came forward and requested to take a photo with me! Haha, so they actually did appreciate my Hokkien and Mandarin songs too! Thank God!
Do not mistake them for just some excited fans, they are actually nurses of the old folks’ nursing home!

May God greatly bless us tomorrow that because of our one-heartedness, we would be able to raise enough funds for the nursing home to help those needy old people, Amen!

Take a look at my new Filipino fans, haha…

This one was more daring to request for a personal photo, the others were all screaming beside! Haha!
